A quick summary of the 2013 Conference is below:
Following our survey of members, Ana Sanchez Pérez from Colegio Delibes in Spain gave two workshops: one on “Por/ Para” and the other on ”the Subjunctive“, discussing difficulties these present to students and suggesting activities to use in the classroom.
Dr. Carmen Herrero from Manchester Metropolitan University/ FILTA delivered a workshop on the use of film in the Spanish language class, again with an emphasis on practical activities that can be used in the classroom.
There were CPD certificates available at the end of the day for those who attended all sessions.
In addition, publishers and businesses associated with Spanish were on hand to discuss their products and this year there were various prizes on offer, including vouchers, a digital camera, class sets of books and a weekend away.
A hot lunch was provided. Most members chose, as usual, to renew their membership on the day.
Thank you to those of you who remembered to bring correct change for membership (€30 for individual, €40 for group membership) or a cheque made payable to ATS Ireland. It’s a small thing, but it made our lives easier!
A record number of attendees signed up this year and we were delighted that so many people came to take part in this CPD and networking opportunity. We provided a hot lunch to all attending, as well as tea and coffee on arrival and during the break.
Many thanks to our speakers on the day and all the attendees. We are particularly grateful to those of you who filled out the survey we sent out and will be taking your opinions into account as we plan this year’s events.
